本该抱着故地重游的心态踏上英吉利，结果确是带着对即将大强度与老板并肩作战的恐惧来到这里。这几天的天气是阴雨连绵，自然比较凉爽，工作地点的名字也很有趣，叫做chilworth manor，被我直译为：凉也值城堡。虽然天气凉，但不如说地方荒凉，绝对前不着村后不挨店，想出去玩？没公车；打车？16磅单程，各种想法只能作罢。所以要说值，主办单位最值，把劳力们集中在一起，没日没夜的干活，心无旁骛，绝对是太值了。

好在早就知道老板全程陪同，所以也就没了妄想，而且伙食确实不错，也让大多数人没了怨言。工作还是有些进展的，至少这些繁忙的大人物们能聚在一起讨论问题本身就不容易。抬头一看，跟我同样被挤到角落里上网的居然是UCLA的Zhang Lixia教授，看来是新近入伙黑社会的。还有个在会议上谈笑风生的印度gg，一查居然是大名鼎鼎的IEEE transaction on mobile computing的Editor in Chief。而我们这些小人物不但插不进话，连计划好的在大人物面前talk的机会也由于大人物过于畅谈而取消了。

时间就这样在吃喝，敬仰，回答老板们的问题，使劲地理解大人物的意见中过去了。虽然肚子上明显的鼓起了赘肉，还是明显的感到了疲惫。明天是奋斗的最后一天，home，sweet home，我就要回去了。

关于UK签证的信息

拿到了英国签证，这样便不会影响欧洲行了。为了积攒人品，特分享下列信息，这些网上可能是找不到的：

It is possible to temporary withdraw an application and have the passport returned to the applicant if he needs, for example to make an emergency travel. The application will not be cancelled, but only interrupted. When the applicant returns the passport to the Consulate they will continue the process from the point they have stopped.

The request for a temporary withdraw is the same as the cancellation request, please specify in your written request that you do not want to cancel the application process, but only to ask for a brief interruption.

If you must have your documents returned to you as soon as possible, you may cancel your application. Your documents will then be returned to you. If you choose to cancel your application, you must submit the request in writing.

大概意思就是签证处理过程，可以暂时要回护照应急，之后寄回去继续审理；当然也可以取消申请。

Flickr上传小技巧

其实也不算技巧，就是上传之前自己缩小图片。

只针对flickr免费用户，因为免费帐户的限制是上传流量，每个月一百MB，但是从上边下载最多只能下载到1024*768大小的图片，也就是免费帐户上传之后相当于被压缩存储了。按照我现在相机的像素水平，每张大小3/4MB，每个月也就只能上传30多张照片。但如果预先缩小到1024*768的大小，每张的大小在300KB左右，上传之后正好符合flickr能显示的最大大小。而且有软件可以批量处理缩放。如此流量不会浪费掉，每月便能上传300多张照片了，这下还有人买flickr的pro帐号吗？
